Mostlandian Championship Competition Details

Competition: Xeroxing
Time: Registration begins at the Kinkos at SW 2nd and Alder (Downtown Portland) at 7pm Friday, August 18th. First starting gun at 7:15pm
Entry Requirements: $1 Entry fee. Contestants must arrive at proper location (221 SW Alder, Portland, Oregon).
Description: Contestants are provided with a pre-paid copy card and a small stack of papers. Contestants are timed from the moment entry to the copy shop to the moment that they exit with their originals and copies. A referee with a stopwatch times each contestant, and contestants are placed by speed. Contestant returning with copies that are not exact reproductions of the originals will be disqualified.

Competition: Computer Hacking
Time: 9pm, August 18th, to 10am, August 19th.
Description: Contestants must locate the placing page of this contest on the M.O.S.T.'s website and place their name in the ranking slots. Places will be awarded as names stand at 10am PST, August 19th.

Competition: Navigation
Time: Noon, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Arrive with your passport at the covered shelter at Colonel Summers Park, near the corners of SE 19th Avenue and Yamhill.
Description: By arriving at the shelter, you will have proven yourself skilled in the area of Navigation. Places will be awarded in order of arrival. Ties for contestants arriving at the same time will be broken by giving the contestant who has traveled the greater distance the higher placement.

Competition: Coffee Making
Time: 1pm - 2pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Contestants must provide all coffee making materials, including but not limited to: coffee beans or grounds, grinders, filters, percolators, French presses, and mugs. The M.O.S.T. will provide water, half and half, sugar, and electrical outlets.
Description: Contestants will declare which of four categories they are entering into: Drip, French Press, Percolator, and Camping Coffee. Contestants will compete within the allotted time period to produce their finest coffee. The coffee produced by the contestants will be judged by a panel of judges, based on criteria such as taste, aroma, awakability, and coolest coffee mug.

Competition: Cigarette Rolling
Time: 1pm - 2pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Contestants must provide all cigarette rolling materials, including the smoking material. Cigarette rolling machines are not permitted.
Description: A panel of smoking judges will rank contestants.

Competition: CPR
Time: 1:50pm - 2pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required. Pen and paper provided. Contestants are allowed to bring and use writing surfaces and typewriters. Laptops are not permitted.
Description: The CPR contest is an essay contest. Contestants are expected to write an essay titled "What CPR Means to Me" within the allotted timeframe. There is no minimum or maximum word count on the essay.

Competition: Slam Dunk
Time: 2pm - 4pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required. Sports attire required.
Description: 3 tries per contestant; ball provided.

Competition: Roller Skating
Time: 2pm - 4pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required. Contestants must provide their own roller skates and hot pants.
Description: Judged on speed, style and hot pants.

Competition: Double Dutch
Time: 2pm - 4pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required. Providing a jumping rope is highly encouraged.
Description: Half-Time Extravaganza!

Competition: Bow Hunting
Time: 4pm - 6pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required.
Description: Although non-Mostlandics would think of this as a hunting sport, Bow Hunting is actually a five-legged race. Contestants are encouraged to assemble their own four member team, but if a contestant is lacking in participants, referees will attempt to muster members from the audience.

Competition: Fencing
Time: 4pm - 6pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required. Wood and nails provided. Contestants must provide their own tools.
Description: Contestants must erect a freestanding fence without puncturing the earth (or the sprinkler lines below).

Competition: Cartography
Time: 4pm - 5:30pm, August 19th
Description: Contestants are provided a blank map and key indicating Mostlandia's major cities and landmarks. Athletes are to draw Mostlandia. Time limit. Entries are judged on accuracy, readability and beauty.

Competition: Pig Latin
Time: 7pm - 9pm, August 19th
Description: Contestants must translate literary selections of increasing difficulty into Pig-Latin. Judged by a panel.

Competition: Tongue to Nose
Time: 7pm - 9pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required.
Description: Judged by a panel on range of motion, shape and longevity.

Competition: Joke Telling
Time: 7pm - 9pm, August 19th
Entry Requirements: Registration required.
Description: Contestants get to tell 3 jokes. Scored by a panel of judges based on audience laughter.

Competition: Singing
Time: 9pm - Midnight, August 19th
Description: Contestants will be judged on their rendition of a pre-chosen song. Contestants may sing solo or with accompaniment. Lyrics provided.
