Navigation
Date: Saturday, Aug 4
Time: 7 PM sharp

Mostlandia is not a matter of where, but how

Description:
By arriving at the Championships, Contestants prove themselves skilled in the area of Navigation. All Citizens presenting a passport are welcome to place in this event.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants are to arrive at 910 E Burnside with passport in hand.
2. Places are awarded in order of arrival
3. Ties for contestants arriving at the same time will be broken by giving the contestant who has traveled the greater distance the higher placement. Proof may be required in order to establish distance traveled.

Cigarette Rolling
Date: Saturday, Aug 4
Time: 7:30-10 PM

Description:
Contestants are observed as they roll a cigarette.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants must provide all cigarette rolling materials, including smoking material. Cigarette rolling machines not permitted.
2. Contestants shall go in turn so that each may be carefully observed as they roll their cigarette.
3. Both Smokers and Non-Smokers allowed to participate.

4. Judging based on:
• Individual technique/style during the rolling process
• Appearance of rolled cigarette
• Texture/feel of rolled cigarette

4a. Judging is not necessarily based on smoking of the cigarettes. We leave the who/how/when/importance of smoking to the discretion of the Referee.

Singing
Date: Saturday, Aug 4
Time: 9-10 PM

Description:
Contestants will be judged on their rendition of a pre-chosen song. Contestants may sing solo or with accompaniment. Lyrics provided.

Guidelines:
1. Judging should be based on:
• Enthusiasm – both of singer and receiving audience
• Overall lasting impressions.

1a. It is OK to judge higher based on creative insertion of Mostlandian themes/ideas into existing work from Other Places.
2. Places will be awarded at Awards ceremony on Sunday in order to allow Referee time to deliberate.

Xeroxing
Date: Saturday, Aug 4
Time: 11PM – 12AM

**$2 Entry Fee due to M. prior to the start of the event.**

Description:
Contestants are provided with a pre-paid copy card and a small stack of papers. Contestants are then timed as they race to recreate an exact replica of the small stack of papers.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants are timed from the moment they enter into the copy shop to the moment they exit with their originals and copies.
2. Contestants are placed by both speed and accuracy. Namely, Contestants returning with copies that are not exact reproductions of the originals will be disqualified.
3. It is up to the referee to decide whether to send people into the shop individually or in heats. Decision should be made based upon ability to accurately keep time and review packets for accuracy.
4. Places announced at end of event. Awards to be distributed at Award Ceremony.

Coffee Making
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Contestants will declare which of four categories they are entering into: Drip, French Press, Percolator, and Camping Coffee. Contestants will compete within the allotted time period to produce their finest coffee.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants must provide all coffee making materials, including but not limited to: coffee beans or grounds, grinders, filters, percolators, french presses and mugs.
2. The coffee produced by contestants will be judged on a scale of 1-10 by a panel of 3 judges (as facilitated by Referee) based on criteria such as:
• Taste
• Aroma
• Wakeability (later entrants seem to score higher)
• Coolest Coffee mug

CPR
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
The CPR contest is an essay contest. Contestants are expected to write an essay titled “ What CPR Means to Me” within the allotted timeframe. Contestants are asked to read their essays out loud to the audience, and are judged by a guest judge.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants must drop their writing implements directly at the 15 minute limit.
2. There is not minimum or maximum word count on the essay.
3. Contestants are allowed to bring and use writing surfaces and typewriters. Laptops not allowed.
4. Contestants are allowed to change their mind about what they wrote and write something new so long as it is within the 15 minute time limit.
5. Places will be announced at the conclusion of the readings, and 1st-3rd place later celebrated at the Award Ceremonies.

Bow Hunting
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Although non-Mostlandics would think of this as a hunting sport, Bow Hunting is actually a five-legged race. Contestants compete in teams of four tied at the ankles to cross a pre-determined distance in the shortest amount of time.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants are encouraged to pre-assemble their own teams, but if a contestant is lacking participants, Referees will attempt to muster members from the audience.
2. No Cutting Corners! Corner Cutters shall either do 10 pushups together or start again at the beginning.
3. Ties shall be decided by a second, shorter, “sprinting style” race.
4. Places will be announced and cheered at the event, and 1st -3rd place also announced later at the Award Ceremonies.

Computer Hacking
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Contestants take turns trying to crack a piñata in the shape of a computer. GUEST REFEREE: Citizen Mike Merrill

Guidelines:
.05 Safety!
1. Contestants will line up in order of youngest to oldest and “go to bat” in that order
2. Contestants are spun around as many times as they are old, and are pointed in the general direction of the piñata.
3. Members of The MOST are allowed to modify the height/position of the piñata at will.
4. As soon as the piñata is broken, all Contestants are welcome to dive for the prize. Place numbers will be listed as 1’s and 0’s within objects in the piñata. Contestants place based on the highest binary they can make with the 0’s and 1’s they collect.

Fencing
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Contestants must erect a freestanding fence without puncturing the earth (or the sprinkler lines below) in the time allotted.

Guidelines:
.05 Safety!
1. Contestants must provide their own tools
2. Contestants may work alone or in teams.

Slam Dunk
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Slam Dunk! Bam! That’s the sound that THAT makes!

Guidelines:
1. Three tries per contestant.
2. Panache is as important as acing it.

Roller Skating
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5

Description:
Contestant shows off his/her mad skills skating – figure skater style.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants must provide their own roller skates, music (if desired), and hot pants. Hot pants is subjective.
2. Judged on speed, grace and/or humor.
3. Places will be awarded at the Awards Ceremony

Double Dutch
Date: Saturday and Sunday, August 4th & 5th
Time: Ongoing

Description:
Contestants display their skills in Double Dutch

Guidelines:
1. Contestants who wish to participate will speak in Double Dutch for the duration of the Championships on this date.
2. Contestants begin their trial as soon as they begin speaking in Double Dutch. The trial ends at the moment they stop.
3. Contestants forfeit their placement if they begin speaking in Double Dutch after their trial ends.
4. Places will be awarded based on endurance and perceived accuracy.

Pig Latin
Date: Saturday and Sunday, August 4th & 5th
Time: Ongoing

Description:
Contestants display their skills in Pig Latin

Guidelines:
1. Contestants who wish to participate will speak in Pig Latin for the duration of the Championships on this date.
2. Contestants begin their trial as soon as they begin speaking Pig Latin. The trial ends at the moment they stop.
3. Contestants forfeit their placement if they begin speaking in Pig Latin after their trial ends.
4. Places will be awarded based on endurance and perceived accuracy.

Tongue to Nose
Date: Saturday and Sunday, August 4th & 5th
Time: Ongoing

Description:
Contestants touch their tongue to their noses.

Guidelines:
1. Contestants should announce their desire to participate in this contest to the Referee who will direct them to The O. The O. will either time the Contestant and/or take a Polaroid of the Contestant’s efforts.
2. Contestants will be Judged on range of motion, shape and longevity.
3. Places will be announced at Awards Ceremony.

Cartography
Date: Sunday, Aug. 5
Time: Ongoing

Description:
Contestants draw a map from their house to Junior Ambassador's Food Cart on paper provided

Guidelines:
1. Contestants will announce their desire to participate in this contest to the Referee who will direct them to The T. The T will have a paper with
(a) the address and
(b) hours of the food cart on it.
The T will direct the contestant to draw a map from their house to the food cart.

2. Contestants must draw a map and present it at the food cart during open hours at a later date in order to win.
3. Places (up to 3rd place) will be awarded at the food cart in the order that maps arrive.

Joke Telling
Date: Saturday and Sunday, August 4th & 5th
Time: Ongoing

Description:
Ha! Ha! Ha! or groannnnnn or even worse, silence

Guidelines:
1. Contestants tell 3 jokes.
2. Scored based on audience laughter, influenced by timing & delivery
3. Places will be awarded at awards ceremony on Sunday in order to allow Referee time to deliberate.
4. OK to have possible winners re-tell joke at awards ceremony.

Other Rules and Guidance:


• Only Citizens are allowed to participate in the Championships with ONE (1) exception: Children under the age of 12 who are not citizens may participate in events as legally allowed. Please encourage enthusiastic non-citizens to participate as spectators (especially if they might be willing to coordinate the wave or a human pyramid with other non-competitors).

• Rock, Paper, Scissors is an acceptable tie-breaker. General guidelines: Best 2 out of 3. hit fist to palm twice and make symbol on third hit. “hit, hit, symbol!”
